Pediatric Speech-Language Pathologist

Major Duties:
Utilizes expertise and creativity to establish meaningful connections with clients and families, fostering a supportive therapeutic environment.
Engages in direct therapeutic sessions with clients, addressing their needs and facilitating skill development through tailored interventions.
Implements a diverse range of evidence-based approaches to identify the most effective therapeutic strategies tailored to individual clients’ needs. Utilizes a play-based and strengths-based approach that promotes engagement and skill development.
Tailors therapeutic interventions, conducting research, and developing individualized treatment plans while implementing modifications to therapy progress as necessary to ensure optimal outcomes
Completes accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical records system to ensure compliance with regulatory standards and best practices in adherence to company policy.
Therapists are expected to have daily notes completed by the lesser of the following:
Within four (4) calendar days from the appointment
Prior to the next scheduled appointment for that client for the specific discipline
Conducts comprehensive evaluations including standardized and non-standardized tests prior to initiating services and analyzes assessment results to identify strengths, challenges, and needs of the child in order to develop individualized Plans of Care.
Therapists are expected to have evaluation documentation completed by the lesser of the following:
Within five (5) calendar days from the appointment
Prior to the next scheduled appointment for that client for the specific discipline.
All evaluations must be signed prior to the next session that Therapist sees that client.
Effectively collaborates and communicates professionally with clients, families, teachers, and other professionals to gather comprehensive information about the child’s daily functioning and to provide education and support to enhance understanding of treatment goals and progress. Therapists are required to respond to communication within two business days based on their scheduled working hours.
Allocates time for maintaining effective communication with families or guardians, recognizing its significance in supporting the overall therapeutic process.
Actively pursues continuing education opportunities to broaden knowledge and skills within the discipline, ensuring the highest quality of care.
Adheres to all Playabilities’ policies, procedures, and protocols to maintain compliance and promote a safe therapeutic environment.
Maintains strict client confidentiality in accordance with legal and ethical standards and HIPAA standards.
Collaborates with interdisciplinary team members to develop and implement comprehensive care plans that address the holistic needs of clients.
Engages in community outreach initiatives to raise awareness about therapy services and resources available to families.
Participates in team meetings and professional development activities to contribute to a culture of continuous improvement.
Maintains a respectful, professional, and solution-focused approach in all communications with management and leadership, fostering a positive and collaborative work environment.
Performs other work-related duties as assigned, demonstrating flexibility and a commitment to team objectives.
Ensures a clean and organized clinic environment to maintain a safe and welcoming space for clients and team members.
Actively participates in company events, including forums and team-building activities, contributing to discussions, sharing insights, and fostering a collaborative atmosphere that enhances team engagement and alignment with organizational goals
Demonstrates high-level therapy services reflected in TVS and NPS survey results from clients
Advocates for clients and families, with support as needed. Demonstrates empathy for clients and caregivers understanding individualized goals and caregiver’s reasons for seeking therapy.
Utilizes a strengths-based, neuro-affirming language and practices within each interaction.
Manages time efficiently in order to complete all job functions within the day utilizing support as needed to adhere to Playabilities' expectations.
Demonstrates competency in clinical skills, independence, and responsibilities as outlined in the expectations of the Playabilities Ladders Program, based on the assigned clinical level.

Requirements
Must have at least a master’s degree in Occupational, Speech, or Physical Therapy from an accredited university.
Must have a current, valid Kansas license to practice Occupational, Speech, or Physical Therapy in the state of Kansas.
Ability to handle multiple tasks and responsibilities while providing high-touch services to clients, families, and caregivers.
Ability to adapt and problem-solve when faced with new situations.
Ability to clearly and concisely communicate through written reports.
Ability to work with a team and accept mentorship and constructive feedback with professionalism.
Ability to demonstrate conflict resolution, problem-solving, time management, goal setting, and prioritization.
Ability to actively seek feedback and support to ensure meeting all expectations such clarification required on Playabilities’ policies, procedures, and clinical processes.
Successful completion of all pre-employment background check, drug screening, and physical capacity assessments if applicable.

Physical Demands:
Occasionally lifts and/or moves up to thirty (30) pounds
Ability to leverage multiple components on a computer to maximize productivity
Ability to sit or stand for prolonged periods while engaging with clients in therapy sessions
Occasional walking, bending, or reaching as required to interact with clients, set up therapy spaces, or move to different rooms
Ability to use hands to write notes, leverage multiple components on a computer to maximize productivity, or manage therapy tools (e.g., stress balls, charts)
Occasional Physical Assistance:
Assisting Clients: May include providing light physical support to clients (e.g., guiding someone to a chair)
Use of Tools: Setting up or adjusting therapy aids such as sensory equipment, chairs, or visual aids

Sensory Demands
Hearing: Ability to actively listen to clients, including picking up on tone, inflection, and non-verbal cues
Vision: Ability to observe client behavior, interpret body language, and read written and electronic documentation
Speech: Clear verbal communication to effectively interact with clients, families, and team members

Client Interaction Requirements
Emotional Engagement: Ability to maintain professional composure while handling emotionally charged situations or clients experiencing distress
Physical Proximity: Comfortable working in close proximity to clients, including maintaining appropriate physical boundaries during sessions
De-escalation Skills: Ability to handle clients in crisis, which may require calm demeanor and verbal de-escalation techniques

Cognitive and Emotional Demands
Concentration: Sustained focus during therapy sessions and while documenting case notes
Emotional Resilience: Capacity to manage personal emotional responses when dealing with sensitive or distressing client issues
Conflict Resolution: Ability to mediate disagreements or address difficult client dynamics.

Work Environment Considerations
Ability to work in varying settings such as office, remote (if applicable), clinic, or community locations
Exposure to emotionally charged environments, requiring adaptability to different client needs.
