Description
This Speech Therapist will be responsible for managing the entire client experience from initial evaluation to implementation of treatment to family education to discharge. No two children are the same and therapists will need to use their expertise and creativity to connect with their clients, implementing a variety of approaches to find the “just right” therapeutic fit for your clients. Our therapy style is primarily play-based in a one-on-one setting however, therapists doing activities together is not uncommon.
Expectations
Therapists will need to be a quick learner and capable of juggling multiple tasks and responsibilities at one time while providing high-touch service to clients, families, and caregivers.
Availability
The ideal candidate will have availability to work five days a week, with 6 or more total hours of availability between the hours of 4:00-7:00 PM.
The position will start at a part-time capacity (~15 billable hours) with the potential to gradually increase to a full-time caseload. Hours and timelines are based on the needs of the clinic and are subject to change.
Requirements
Applicants should have 2+ years of experience;
Kansas Speech Language Pathologist License;
A Master's Degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited university; and
A personal professional liability policy

Ability to sit for brief to extended periods of time
Occasionally lifts and/or moves up to thirty (30) pounds
Ability to leverage multiple components on a computer to maximize productivity
Ability to move freely around the office and clinic

We provide personalized, intensive, and client-centered therapy services for children with various neurodevelopmental disabilities including developmental delays, autism, and sensory processing disorder. We provide a relaxed, yet professional work environment comprised of a collection of highly motivated, self-driven therapists who feed off of each other’s love for their job and compassion for helping our families. Availability
The position will be responsible for a range of 25-35 billable hours per week. The position will start with part-time hours (10-15 hours/week) and build into a full-time position (25-35 hours/week) over the course of the first few months of employment.
The ideal candidate will have availability to work 4-5 days a week, with 3 days of extended availability (~8/9 AM to 6/7 PM). Extended availability would be on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. Monday would be a morning shift and potential Saturday work if the therapist is available.

Pediatric Occupational Therapist - Relief

Schedule: Relief - 4 days/week until the end of December and then an as needed basis
Lee Ann Britain Infant Development Center (Britain IDC) is an early intervention program for children from birth through six years of age with special needs. The Pathways Program is an early intervention program within Britain IDC that is specifically designed to serve the needs of young children diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder.
The Occupational Therapist (OT) evaluates plans and administers appropriate techniques of treatment as prescribed by a physician. The OT administers direct patient care treatments in a professional manner and within hospital standards and completes timely and thorough documentation.
S/he conducts individual and group therapy sessions both on land and in the water to assist children to attain maximum potential of fine motor, sensory processing, and self-help skills. S/he works closely with parents and other professional staff and participates in team conferences. S/he determines appropriate equipment for patients and may also assist teachers in the classroom with adaptations for students for optimal performance.
S/he is accountable for practicing within the parameters of the State Board of Healing Arts, and all regulatory standards and established policies, protocols, and procedures.
The Occupational Therapist demonstrates leadership/management skills and a commitment to professional accountability and growth. The Occupational Therapist serves as a role model for the mission, vision and values of Shawnee Mission Health.

This is a unique position, which is grant funded and school-based in nature. The perfect candidate is passionate about learning how to help kids better.
